4 marketing books every business owner should read

If you run your own business, you manage your own marketing.

Whether it’s social media, print ads, word of mouth, cold calls, emails, whatever - you’re the CEO and the CMO.

You don’t have to read these books cover to cover (although I highly recommend you do), but I’ve included the chapters that include practical tools you can start using today.

These chapters focus on some of the techniques and ideas that have been essential in reframing the way I approach about marketing and brand. You may notice they all focus on the customer.

Because deeply understanding your customer is the key to really, really excellent brand marketing.

Check ‘em out below ⬇️

📚 Creative Strategy & the Business of Design by Douglas Davis (Pages 73-77) “Value to the Consumer is Expressed as Features and Benefits”

📚 The Brand Flip by Marty Neumeier (Page 25) “25 Intangibles That Add Value” and (Page 67) “The Brand Commitment Matrix”

📚 Building a Storybrand by Donald Miller (Page 58) “How to Talk About Your Customers’ Problems”

📚 This is Marketing by Seth Godin (Pages 78-85) “What do people want?”

Of course there’s a hundred more incredible books on marketing and strategy out there. But I’d start with these.

What books or chapters would you add?
