5 signs of a toxic client

Whether it’s a colleague, a client, a manager, a vendor, a sponsor, or a volunteer…

These types of relationships are inevitable.

Hopefully, they are few and far between.

There may be a time and a place to practice empathy, to mend hard relationships or to make exceptions for extenuating circumstances.

But most of the time, it’s better to create distance.

I do fundamentally believe that there’s no such thing as a bad project and that even the most difficult clients tend to operate from a place of fear.

I also believe in taking responsibility for my own shortcomings if I’ve mismanaged an area of a project that’s led to miscommunication, distrust, or problems.

But there are always exceptions.

So know the signs.

And know that you’re so much more than what you do.
