3 brand management principles for new businesses

If you’re just starting out, one if your first action items as a small business may be “branding.”

But if you’ve only gotten as far as a logo… what do you focus on next?

🌟 The quality of interactions with your clients and customers.

Here are 3 Brand Management Principles for New Businesses:

🦄 CHOOSE TO BE DIFFERENT

Visual differentiation is an easy way for your new business to standout in the busy marketplace.

So take the time to analyze your key competitors.

Note what choices they make. Then choose the opposite.

👑 CONSISTENCY IS KING

Visual identities are fluid and will inevitably evolve over time. When you’re first starting out, it’s essential to commit to a look and feel and stick to it.

At the bare minimum, commit to choosing a legible typeface and an accessible color palette.

Prioritize what you want to say and where (on your website or social media).

Then style accordingly.

Use templates. Don’t over-design.

🐭 START SMALL AND SIMPLE

Your website doesn’t need 20 pages outlining every product or service you offer.

You don’t need to mail bulky brochures or hang custom banners behind your booth.

Yet.

It’s okay to be scrappy, as long as you stay consistent.

Set a solid visual foundation and THEN identify your marketing needs.

Above all, ensure you’re bringing value to your customers.

And then you can focus on looking good while doing it. 💃🏻
