How to craft meaningful design principles

“Principles are fundamental truths that serve as the foundations for behavior that gets you what you want out of life. They can be applied again and again in similar situations to help you achieve your goals.” - Ray Dalio, Principles

🔍 When we dig deep into a particular industry, project or client problem, we begin to see patterns as to why these problems occur.

🏠 Maybe it’s a lack of empathy for student home life.

🤷🏻‍♀️ Maybe it’s unclear guidance and training for new volunteers at a non-profit.

Whatever the challenges, identifying the ROOT of the problem and transforming it into an actionable guiding statement is how we get design principles.

🌟 True design principles are succinct ideas that guide decision-making at every level.

They focus on the user, the customer, the audience, or the client.

So don’t just keep them in mind.

Keep them at the center of everything you do.
