Design strategy is a simple equation
Simply put, strategy is an approach overcoming a known obstacle.
A: Today’s Problem ➡️ B: Tomorrow’s Ideal Future
So what exactly happens in between?
➡️ represents a series of changes designed to get you to B.
This could include:
🔄 👩 Customer changes
🔄 🏪 Company changes
🔄 🥊 Competitive changes
Or a combination of all three.
And, ideally, it’s easy to remember.
Today, zoo membership is low.
Tomorrow, the local zoo is perceived as the best place for environmental education.
Customer strategy could be to focus on how to provide long term value for ecology students.
Company strategy could be to invest in hosting top-quality training and boot camps.
Competitive strategy could be to focus on differentiation from higher education programs.
🌟 This requires having a clear definition of the current problem AND a definition of a future state grounded in real human needs.
What does your company’s ideal state look like?
